Gabrielle and Jordan: Reno, Nevada LDS Temple

I know its spring, but it feels time for winter wedding. . .
and Marielle Hayes just happend to share one with us!
I love this dress! How it hugs her so sexily and is still so classic and modest.

Winter white M&Ms!
Love the ring shot, Marielle.

Hot chocolate bar? YES PLEASE!

One last shot of the GORGEOUS Gabriella!
And now the lovely bride shares her thoughts about her wedding day.

I was never the girl who dreamed up every detail of my future wedding, and in fact the whole idea stressed me out. I was fortunate enough to have a mom who took on the entire thing. I would offer my thoughts and opinions periodically. I knew that I wanted it in a great building, and I knew that I wanted to keep things very simple and classy. We found the California building in Reno, NV which is a big beautiful stucco building with great windows. Having a winter wedding was challenging in some ways because the pool of ideas feels smaller and the possibilities less, but in the end we really enjoyed incorporating the winter aspects. After Christmas we went around to various tree lots and purchased trees to decorate the edges of the room with. It was a fiasco getting them but it really helped create the atmosphere that we wanted. We found that our flower options were limited, so I had seen a picture where branches were used in vases. We went with the branches and added pine cones and cylinders with floating candles; all of which complimented the lighted trees and the wintery vibe we were attempting to create. We purchased most of the centerpiece materials from the floral supply in Reno.

We wanted to serve warm comfort food so we went through McCue Catering in Reno and served Parmesan chicken, Alfredo noodles, rolls, beans, etc. We had a hot chocolate bar as well and other wintery treats. A lady named Chris Tensen made snowflake cookies which were delicious and my cousin Gay Stodmeister made fancy chocolate chip brownies.

I didn't want to do some of the conventional wedding things such as a wedding cake. We decided to have buntinis from my favorite cake places Nothing Bunt Cakes http://www.nothingbundtcakes.com/.

For the chairs and chair bows we used Camelot Party Rentals in Reno http://www.camelotpartyrentals.biz/Welcome.html.

We also rented a grand piano and had a friend play music throughout. It was a very nice touch.

As for my dress, I am proud to say that I did not go dress shopping once. I have always known that I wanted a custom dress. I have very distinct ideas and it is difficult to find dresses with three quarter sleeves. I liked the JCrew dresses but wanted a variation on them. We were referred by a friend to a lady by the name of Shauna Webb that used to be in clothing design and manufacturing in LA but has since moved to Reno. She was wonderful to work with and was understanding of me making changes along the way. I wanted a very simple, high quality dress and to wear big jewelery to make it fancier. I found my necklace and bracelet at Ann Taylor and I think everything went together very nicely.

Overall it was a beautiful day, I was somewhat surprised that everything came together so nicely. I was not as involved with the planning process so it was so wonderful to walk into the building and see how amazing everything looked. I owe it all to my mom. It was a great day and I have wonderful memories from it.

Also my photographer was the best in the entire world!! Marielle Hayes was so much fun to work with and made me feel so good all day!!

  2. I haven't been out to the Reno Temple yet! I'm driving there tomorrow there for my flight to DC (shooting at the DC Temple on Saturday!) so maybe I'll leave a little early and swing by! I didn't realize it was a newer temple- it's beautiful! I'd love to shoot there! I usually do a few Reno weddings a year, but it's been awhile, so I better start advertising up there again!
